In professional services, especially finance and accounting, tradition has long influenced how workplaces are designed. For decades, formality, structure, and visual cues of professionalism have dominated office layouts: rows of desks, private offices, and a clear hierarchy built into the floor plan.

But the world of work has changed. Today’s employees want more than a place to sit — they want a place that supports how they work, connects them to their colleagues, and reflects the values of their organisation.

Reflect your culture, not your category……. This is what we would say!

Challenging the Norm

Designed by The Interior Design Practice, DJH Accountants new workplace challenges industry standards by placing flexibility, smart technology and the employee experience at the centre.

When DJH set out to repurpose their office, they weren’t just looking for a cosmetic refresh. They wanted their environment to reflect who they were becoming: a collaborative, forward-thinking firm that values connection, agility, and trust.

Rather than defaulting to a conventional financial office model, we worked with them to design a space that aligns with their culture — warm, human, and team-driven — while still meeting the practical needs of privacy, focus, and client confidentiality.

The result? A modern workplace that feels approachable and energising, with flexible work settings, hospitality inspired design touches, and zones for different types of interaction — from deep focus to informal catch ups.

Moving Beyond Labels

Too often, workplace design is led by assumptions about what a certain industry should look like. But when you design around a label — “corporate,” “creative,” “financial” — you risk missing what makes your team unique.

Instead, we encourage organisations to ask deeper questions:

  • What behaviours do we want to encourage? We want to enable collaboration, autonomy, and connection — creating a workplace where people feel empowered to share, learn and thrive.
  • How do we want people to feel when they walk through the door? Welcomed, valued, and energised — the space should feel human, supportive and designed to inspire confidence and focus.
  • What does success look like for our teams, clients, and culture? Success is a workplace that performs — attracting talent, building trust with clients, and strengthening cultural identity from the inside out.

These answers, not your sector should shape your space.

A Space That Feels Like You

Your office is more than a backdrop — it’s a living expression of your brand and values. And when your workplace feels like an authentic extension of your culture, it builds trust, drives engagement, and makes coming to work feel meaningful.

It’s not about rejecting tradition, it’s about choosing relevance.

It’s about reflecting your culture — not your sector.
